Kannada Rajyotsav Celebrations

On 22nd November 2018 YMCC conducted the Kannada Rajyosthav celebrations at IBA campus. IBA was honoured to have Mr. Nagendra as the chief guest for the occasion. Director of IBA, Dr. Subhash Sharma was also present for the function. The function started with the lighting of Kuthuvizhaku and Karnataka flag hoisting by the respected dignitaries.

Swagatha Mukarjee of Batch 18-20 sang the Saraswati Vandana for the blessings of the goddess. Dr. Nandeesh then gave an introduction about Mr. Nagendra. Dr. Subash then addressed the gathering wherein he gave many examples on how things evolved after he came to Karnataka. He also gave examples on how the meanings of words in Kannada coincide with English words. He also went on to explain the 5K concept and relating it with Kannada Rajyosthav.

Mr. Nagendra then addressed everyone present and stressed that an individual in his life span should focus on his personal, professional and social life in a balanced way. He also talked about his services being a Rotarian and his meeting with Bill Gates. He also pointed out why is it important to learn all the languages by putting forward the fact that, mother tongue is to be praised and felt proud but being in a country like India where variant cultures exists, it is important to learn each language.

Prof. Narendra Babu then gave an inspirational speech on the history of Karnataka and why should we be proud of living in such a land. Followed by Prof. Prashat Kulkani, who reiterated over the points by Prof. Narendra Babu and how technology in Bangalore has taken a great leap by which aspirants all over the country come and study here.

The function also had some cultural events and Prof. Nagendra Hegde distributed books on how to learn Kannada in 25 days.

With this the function came to an end and later the flag was lowered in the evening with a mark of respect for the state of Karnataka.
