Ecofluence drives constructive dialogue about India's economic trajectory and its global influence

"The world needs India or India needs the world” captures the spirit of India’s rising role in the global economy. With substantial inward and outward investment, India is not only attracting global capital but also strategically investing in other countries. India remains a highly attractive destination for foreign investment, reflecting the robust fundamentals that sustained the growth in FDI inflows to US $81 billion in FY 2024–25. At the same time, Indian companies significantly expanded their global footprint, with ODI outflows marking a 40% leap compared to the prior fiscal year. Even when faced with challenges like a 50% tariff imposed by the US and skeptics labelling it as a “Dead Economy”, India continues to stand firm, showcasing its economic strength and remarkable resilience.

As India continues to play a pivotal role in the rebalancing of global trade, technology, and policy frameworks, it highlights the central question — does the world need India more, or does India need the world? Engaging in a debate on this imperative issue of India’s global standing enables students and research scholars to explore diverse viewpoints, enhance their research and debating skills, and most importantly, better appreciate the challenges and opportunities that shape India’s spot in the international arena.
