4th MTC Global Annual Convention – Sankalp 2014

The 4th MTC Global Annual Convention ‘SANKALP’, was jointly organized by Indus Business Academy and MTC Global on 26th and 27th Sept 2014 at Indus Business Academy, Bangalore. After the registration process and interaction, the inaugural session started with the Saraswati Vandana and the auspicious lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries and guests.
The welcome address was given by Prof. Thothatri Raman, Founder Chairman – SEAA Trust, New Delhi. He spoke about concept selling becoming a buzzword in the business school identity. This was followed by an overview of the convention and the themes to be discussed in the next two days by Dr. Subhash Sharma, Director – Indus Business Academy, Bangalore. He enlightened the audience on the transition from, Industrial revolution, Knowledge Revolution to the Consciousness Revolution. He also gave an insight into the post Globalization era.
The Master of ceremonies, Prof. Suresh Chandra, then introduced the audience to all the guests and dignitaries. The Chief Guest of the inaugural session was Prof. O.R.S. Rao, Vice-Chancellor – ICFAI University, Jharkhand. He addressed the current issues faced by management education and felt that B-Schools need to integrate and provide tools to its students to become more adaptable to different sectors. He also asked for building a world-class product.
Mr. Kishen SSR, Chairman & Managing Director, Goldwon Textile Ltd., Hyderabad, gave a very interesting keynote address on how every ritual has a scientific base and unfolded the meaning of several mantras. Mr. M K Srivastava, who was the Guest of Honor shared his experiences and thoughts with the audience. This was followed by Prof. Bholanath Dutta, who gave the presidential address. He stressed on what are the multiple ways of learning and said that being a good human was of utmost importance. The inaugural session concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Prof. Anju Kumar, Asst. Prof. – Indus Business Academy, Bangalore. The Theme of the afternoon session was Scaling with quality – the role of Technology.
The session was started by Prof. MJ Xavier, Executive Director – Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore. He gave a very forward-directed presentation on how classroom learning would change in the future. Prof. Krishna Havaldar, Professor – Alliance University, Bangalore, stressed the importance of quality in the education sector. Dr. G R Reddy, Founder & Chief Facilitator – Husys Consulting Pvt. Ltd. spoke about the role of technology and also suggested that a new appraisal system could be put in place. Mr. Krishan Khanna, Chairman & Founder – I watch, gave an impressive speech on CSR, the role of skills development, and vocational training.
The theme of the third session was on Value-Based Management. The first speaker Mr. Ramesh Vemuganti, Former President – Hyderabad Management Association and CEO – Chanakya Consultancy, felt that communication was a very important tool for learning. Dr. Subhash Sharma, Director – IBA Bangalore, spoke about the four forces and the four lions, namely – the force of the market, the force of the state, the force of the people, and the force of the self. He went on to explain how value-based management is the need of the day and the need of the hour. Dr. M K Sridhar, Director – Canara Bank School of Management Studies, felt values must be practiced and cannot be made into a theoretical subject.
Prof. Indira Parikh, President – FLAME and Former Dean – IIM Ahmedabad, felt based on her personal experiences, that ambience, the culture, and the family background had an impact on people’s values. Ms. Viviana, President – MFTI California, USA, explained about Mandala paintings and their impact on values. Mr. Indroneil Mukerjee, A Human Alchemist, Transformational Coach, Consultant, and Motivational speaker, spoke about the effect of transformation, and its impact on values. The session came to an end with the Memento Presentations.
The next day had some exemplary speakers sharing their thoughts on Research in Management. Prof Ravi Kumar, Professor – IIM Bangalore, explained why Management faculty were reluctant to get into research. Prof. Akhilesh, Professor – IISc, explained the different types of research and where they were applicable and gave a thorough insight into Research in Management. Prof. Hari Krishna Maram, Founder & CEO of Imperial College, shared his thoughts on Research in Management.
The valedictory session and award ceremony took off with the presidential address by Prof. S. Subramaniam, Chairman – African Centre for Mobile inclusion, and Founder Chairman – MTC Global Advisory Board. The awards and the top Thinkers ceremony was conducted by Prof. Bholanath Dutta. The awardees shared a few words on their achievements. The formal program concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Anju Kumar, Asst. Professor – Indus Business Academy, Bangalore. This was followed by the recital of the National anthem by the gathering.
