On the 4th of December 2013, the 6th Spandan-IBA Annual Award in Human Values took place in IBA Campus. The award aims at identifying and honouring individuals involved in inculcating human values as an integral part of work ethic and culture in their pheres of activity.
The ceremony started off with a welcome speech given by Dr. Subhash Sharma, Director at IBA Bangalore, and was followed by an inspiring speech from Prof. G.P.Rao, Chairman of Spandan, in which he detailed the background and ideology for the award. Later on, presentations were given by the 3 shortlisted nominees, namely – Dr. Kamlesh Mishra, Dr. K.P.V. Ramanakumar & Prof. Sheela Mishra.
Although it was tough to adjudge one winner; at the end of it all, Dr. Kamlesh Mishra, emerged as the jury’s choice for the 6th Spandan-IBA Annual Award. Dr. Kamlesh belongs basically to a remote village of Pratapgarh District of Eastern U.P. and is currently Provost & Vice-Chancellor at Auro University, Surat, Gujrat. He completed his Ph.D. from North-eastern University, Boston, and left his job there to return to his roots & realise the actual purpose of his life. Ever since then, he has taken the responsibility to spread a new kind of education into the society – one that inculcates truth, honesty, transparency, and courage in the personalities of today’s youth.
The day came to a close with the jury, presenting the award to Dr. Kamlesh and he expressing the belief that taking motivation from his life many more will contribute towards a brighter future for our society.
