Lohri 2023
Lohri is a popular winter festival celebrated in the northern regions of India, particularly in the states of Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh. It is primarily a festival of harvest and marks the end of the winter solstice. The festival falls on the 13th of January every year and is celebrated with great enthusiasm and excitement by people of all ages.
The origins of Lohri can be traced back to ancient times, when people used to celebrate the end of the winter season by lighting bonfires and dancing around them. Over time, this tradition evolved into the Lohri festival as we know it today, which is characterized by bonfires, traditional folk songs, and delicious food.
In IBA the festival of Lohri was celebrated on following the taditions of Lohri, the event began with bornfire and as the festival is primarily associated with the harvest of crops like wheat so students also offer these crops to the fire as a symbol of gratitude and to seek blessings for a good harvest in the upcoming season. students from both the batches gathered around the fire to sing songs, dance, and exchange greetings. Some of the popular Lohri songs like “Sunder mundriye ho!” were also enjoyed by students.
Lohri is also an occasion for people to come together and strengthen their bonds of friendship and with the celebration of Lohri in IBA campus students from different parts of country has symbolized the unity and harmony.
