“Don’t let the Evil get to your head”
All major world religions happily celebrate Dussehra, often known as the festival of Durga puja. Dussehra is celebrated on the occasion of the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana. People used to enact Ram-Leela before Dussehra. On the day of Dussehra, people make the statues of Ravana and his brothers and burn them. This depicts the victory of good over evil, a big lesson to learn. This festival is a symbol that explains that good deeds will always prevail over evil deeds. They worship Goddess Durga for strength and courage and Lord Ganesha for auspicious beginnings.
The YMCC hosted Dussehra where the celebration began with the lighting of lamps. Since Dussehra is a festival that symbolizes the victory of good, the entire campus was adorned with lamps in the evening.
Students volunteered to light lamps throughout campus while dressed in traditional attire. At 7:00 p.m., Santripti performed a Pooja, and then sweets were distributed. It continued for 4 days. Our eyes rejoiced to see how the whole IBA campus was illuminated with lamps. Students lit lamps in the santripti. Decorative setups were used to embellish our buildings. IBA Students distributed Prasad to all IBA staffs.
In Santripti, a sumptuous dinner was served that evening. Students celebrated the spirit of Dussehra by burning firecrackers after the dinner. The evening concluded with students releasing sky lanterns in IBA, their second home, to commemorate the holiday. Undoubtedly, celebrating this festival in the IBA campus provided us with a sense of warmth and belonging, and we cherished every moment of it.
