Ugadi 2024
Ugadi, also known as Yugadi, is the traditional New Year celebration in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka in India. It marks the beginning of a new lunar cycle and is observed with much enthusiasm and fervor. The festival typically falls in March or April, symbolizing the onset of spring and new beginnings. Ugadi festivities include special rituals like oil baths, prayers, and the consumption of a unique dish called “Ugadi Pachadi,” which symbolizes the various flavors of life. It is a time for families to come together, exchange greetings, wear new clothes, and indulge in traditional delicacies. Ugadi encapsulates the spirit of rejuvenation, hope, and the joy of starting afresh.
We gathered at 7:00 AM in the morning in the ground floor of santripti. Made arrangements of Pooja and prepared Ugadi pachadi. Described the importance of Ugadi as most of the students are unfamiliar with this festival as it is celebrated only in south part of India. Conveyed the importance of ugadi pachadi and distributed among the students as that is the 1st thing they have to eat it on ugadi as a ritual. Everything went very perfectly following the exact ritual.
Had a very delicious special lunch with south Indian dishes. By commemorating events like this, we can foster familiarity with the diverse cultures and traditions across every corner of India, bringing people together in shared understanding and appreciation.
