Celebrating Eid at Indus Business Academy: A Feast of Unity and Joy
Date: 11-04-2024
On the 11th of April, the vibrant spirit of Eid al-Fitr permeated the Indus Business Academy campus, bringing with it an atmosphere of unity, joy, and cultural richness. Hosted by the YMCC Committee, this Eid celebration was a memorable occasion that brought together students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds to share in the festivities.
The celebration kicked off with a warm welcome as members of the YMCC Committee adorned the mess with colourful decorations and festive lights, creating an inviting ambiance that set the stage for the day’s events. As students and faculty gathered in 1st floor of Santripti, the air was filled with excitement and anticipation for the feast that awaited them.
The menu for the eve was a delightful spread of traditional Eid delicacies, carefully curated to tantalize the taste buds and evoke a sense of nostalgia for many. Among the highlights was the “Lachha sewai,” a traditional sweet dish that was met with enthusiastic approval from everyone present. The intricate layers of vermicelli, ghee, and sugar combined to create a dessert that was both delicious and comforting, serving as a sweet reminder of the traditions and customs that make Eid celebrations so special. However, the true star of the eve was undoubtedly the “gajar ka halwa.” This classic Indian dessert, made from grated carrots, milk, sugar, and ghee, was a hit among the attendees, eliciting smiles of satisfaction and contentment with every spoonful. The rich and creamy texture of the halwa, coupled with the perfect balance of sweetness, was the perfect way to conclude the feast and leave everyone feeling satiated and joyful.
As the coordinator of the event, I had the privilege of witnessing first-hand the joy and camaraderie that characterized the celebration. Having never celebrated Eid in a college or school setting before, this was a new and enriching experience for me. One of the most rewarding aspects of the event was the act of serving food to others. It was a revelation to discover that the act of giving can be just as enjoyable, if not more so, than receiving. Seeing the smiles on the faces of my peers and watching them bond over shared meals was truly heartwarming and served as a powerful reminder of the importance of community and togetherness.
Beyond the food and festivities, the Eid celebration at Indus Business Academy was also an opportunity for cultural exchange and learning. For many students, this event provided a glimpse into the rich traditions and customs associated with Eid, fostering a greater appreciation and understanding of the diverse cultures that make up our institution’s community. It was a chance to bridge cultural gaps, break down stereotypes, and build connections that transcend boundaries.
In conclusion, the Eid celebration at Indus Business Academy was a resounding success, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the YMCC Committee and the enthusiastic participation of students, faculty, and staff alike. Through food, music, and fellowship, we came together to celebrate a cherished religious holiday and create lasting memories that will be cherished for years to come. As I reflect on my experience as the coordinator of this event, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the cultural enrichment of our campus and to witness the transformative power of community and unity. Here’s to many more celebrations that bring us closer together and celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures that make Indus Business Academy such a vibrant and inclusive place to learn and grow.
