Dharma Shanti, Dharma Peace: Challenges for Business, Management and Transformative Education
Our world is on fire today, wars and violence are spreading like wildfire engulfing our common humanity in many places around the world. War and conflicts are sometimes justified in the name of religion and for righteous causes, reminding us of righteous wars and dharmayudha. But in place of these, we need to build upon the traditions of Dharma Shanti, Dharma Peace. For realizing Dharma Shanti, Dharma Peace we need to rethink and transform our economies and principles of business, management, and management education. We also need to have transformative education where we learn ways of living peacefully rather than resorting to war and violence at the first instance. Given this contextual topic, Prof. Ananta Giri of Madras Institute of Development studies outlined the issues in the discourse and practice of Dharma Peace. Professor Ori Z. Soltes of Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., spoke about “Seeking Solution to the Problematic of Religious Othering in Theory and Action: From the First Crusade to Hizmet and Seeds of Peace. Prof. Minati Pradhan of Vishwaneedam Center for Asian Blossoming presented her thoughts on the Neurophysical understanding towards Dharma shantI. She also highlighted the importance of consciousness towards reaching Dharma shanti. Prof. Savithri Devi presented her thoughts on Dharma as a concept and its importance in the Veerasheiva Sharana philosophy in the Bhakti era. The workshop was also attended by Mr. Behzad Fatimi, Secretary General, India Dialogue foundation, New Delhi.
