Prior to joining IBA, Dr Subhendu Dey, a PhD in Business Administration from AMU, Aligarh, an alumnus of IIM Kozhikode, and a Mechanical Engineer from Osmania University, Hyderabad, has been the Dean of one of the top business schools in Kolkata, and the founding Director of a B-school in Chennai. With his 29 years of experience, Dr Subhendu Dey brings in distinct style of teaching and learning, mostly based out his knowledge in the area of intelligent learning platforms and tools that encourage active learning among students. He takes his expertise on case based learning methodology to his classes through many of the cases that he has developed on Indian companies. One of his cases, “The role of enterprises in influencing climate change policy adoption in transitioning economies: A Case Study of SELCO Solar Light Pvt Ltd. In India” was presented in the prestigious 30th Society for Advancement of Socio-Economics Conference in Kyoto, Japan. Another Case study “Ayush Fashions- The Expansion Dilemma” dealing with expansion problems faced by small firms in India has been published in the ABDC listed Journal of International Business Education. His major research interest lies in agri-supply chain management in subsistence marketplaces. His research articles have been published in journal of Macromarketing, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Academy of Marketing Studies Journal, Journal of International Business Education etc. He is currently working with NGOs and Social Enterprises in India on research projects for the benefit of sellers and buyers of subsistence marketplaces. He has also consulted for companies from India, KSA, Russia, and Ukraine. Prof Dey also specialises in institution-building, and his work with the 5th ranked B-School in eastern India, creating a technology based learning environment has helped the school win the Best B-School using Technology in Training/Education two years in a row.
