Students of Batch 19-21 had the privilege of interacting with Mr. Narasimhan M R, Senior Manager Coordinator – IDFC Mutual Funds over the topic of “Investment Awareness – Personal Financial Planning.”
Mr. Narasimhan started off with a beautiful quote by Warren Buffet – Do not save what is left after spending, but spend what is left after saving. A quote which everyone had heard many times but its true meaning was deciphered in the session.
The session started with the welcome of the guest by acknowledging him and presenting him a bouquet. The session was conducted beautifully by him; through a “Return of one idiot – Amole Gupta cinema” he highlighted the importance of savings in life as well as difference between savings and investments.
It is easy not to consider that in old age, you will no longer be earning money on a regular basis, or even not at all. It is never too early to start thinking about that period of uncertainty. A saving is one of the best ways to make sure that you can will have a steady source of income in old age, and he made students realize that in a beautiful manner by the story.
Topics like Mutual Funds in India, importance of investments at an early age and career opportunities in the Mutual Fund Industry / Financial industry were taken during the session.
Session clearly stated to know extent of ignorance in real knowledge of savings and investments for future, Time value of money and wealth creation.

Ans. 5,000 listed companies on the BSE and NSE has 1600.
- How many stocks are part of SENSEX and NIFTY?
Ans. NIFTY 50 Indian company stocks and SENSEX 30 Stocks.
- Who is current RBI governor?
Ans. Shaktikanta DAS
- Current GDP of India?
Ans. 7.2% in 2018-2019.
- New tax rate for corporates?
Ans. 22%
