On 25th June 2022, the newly inducted students of batch 2022-2024 got an opportunity to listen to the timely thoughts of Mr. Vineesh CN, Director- Evidence and Customer Strategy at IQVIA, on Strategies regarding the health care industry. Every student was mesmerised after listening to their inspirational words by him and also cleared all the doubts about the topic.
Mr. Vineesh conveyed and gave voice to the fact that strategy is simply the plan for long-term choices that are adding sustainable competitive advantage.
Like every company in the industry wants strategies for the betterment of the product, for health care industry strategies to improve the lives of patients. The essence of this strategy is when an industry adapts to changes in the environment and makes it its key role. For adaptation we need certain questions to answer where do we actually compete and how we can win the value creation in these areas and what should be the priorities.
What did we learn as a student from the guest lecture?
- We being the future managers need to learn to adapt ourselves to the latest trends and outcomes of the industry.
- We learned about the winning proposition which included four key features such as superior profits, maintaining key priorities, greater customer value and competitive focus. All these need to be combined at one and translate into profit.
- Aligning people is the key role as strategy is always an outside-in approach which gives the action model defining that our focus should be on learning, execution and alignment. Focus defines the strategic choices and vision. Execution leads to the implementation of all these strategic choices and alignment will measure people’s cultural structure and process and later on these, all need to be rewarded.
- The areas of enquiry must be performance graph, losing and winning ratio and if losing is more than what is wrong that is happening and why the opponents are winning.
