Holi Celebrations
Date: 21st March 2019
Holi is a festival of colours, happiness, love, friendship, caring and sharing different shades of life. Celebration of Holi starts one day before as ‘Holika-Dahan’ which reminds us of two stories. One of ‘Holika and Prahlad’ and other is of ‘Lord Shiva and Kamadeva’. Holika-Dahan is basically about the significance of love and victory of power over the evil. IBA, also known as Indiapura where all the festivals of all the religion are celebrated observed the festival of colours on 21st March 2019.
Holika-Dahan was celebrated on 20th by putting a bunch of wood pieces and burning it with rituals as per tradition. Pooja was done from 8:20 pm to 8:40 pm with the participation of honourable Faculty & Staff members. This pooja doesn’t simply mark the burning of the bunch of wood pieces like a bonfire, but also our ego, negativity and bad memories with a prayer to God for happiness and prosperity of all the people around us. After the pooja, students of both the batches took blessings of Faculty & Staff members while wishing them as well as their friends “happy and joyful Holi”.
The following day, the Holi celebration with colours started from 9:30 am onwards and carried on until 12:30 pm in the basketball ground with dry colours, water balloons, watercolours and songs playing in the background that lighted up the mood of the students. All students enjoyed with colours leaving everything else apart. It was full of fun with dancing, throwing water balloons, taking selfies, putting colours, wishing, singing, gossiping with each other and creating memories that will last for a lifetime. Apart from colours, foods and drinks were also the centres of attraction for the day. Moments of Holi celebrated together are sure to become memories of a lifetime that can be forever cherished.
