In 2009 students of IBA, Bangalore launched a CSR initiative called as HOPE whereby the student volunteers dedicate their time to spend with either underprivileged kids in Orphanages or elders in Old age homes along with their PGDM Program.
IBA celebrated its 13th Foundation day on 20th August 2013 which is also named as HOPE day for IBA. Hope committee had invited kids of Desire Society which works towards taking care of children infected and affected with HIV/AIDS. 20% of the kids were infected; however, it doesn’t stop IBA students and the staff to give the best time possible. The whole day kids were involved in activities like painting competitions, Rakhi celebrations, lunch, Tom and Jerry cartoon show and a lot of sports activities and games. The kids also planted a tree in IBA campus and named it as “DESIRE” tree.
“Funding is not a challenge these days as big corporate houses come forward to support, but the challenge is to give them quality time to teach, play and develop them and make them feel part of this lovely society” as said by one of the NGO officials.
The idea of bringing these kids to IBA campus is to evoke their aspirations to study in such big institutions. The day ended up with changing IBA flag which has 3 colours viz. Saffron, Red and Green which is the significance of Good Governance, CSR and growth & development.
Earlier too, students participated in Kargil Divas Walkathon, Pinkathon dedicated to Women’s Breast Cancer awareness.
