Janmashtami Celebrations
Janmashtami Celebrations
Date: 30th August 2021
Janmashtami is in celebration of the day when the almighty Lord Vishnu came on earth as Lord Krishna to end the sins of Kans, an evil asura but his uncle by relation. On 30th August 2021, Janmashtami was celebrated by IBA students, though this time it was through a Zoom meeting. The meet was organised, by the YMCC team, along with students from the 2020-22 and 2021-23 batch.
The program started with a recital of a couple of instances from the Bhagavad Gita and the life of Lord Krishna by students of batch 2021-23, which enlightened everyone. After that, there were multiple performances from students of both batches. Some sang hymns, some recited poems or instances from the life of Lord Krishna, and some gave dance performances on songs about Lord Krishna. It was beautiful to see everyone putting efforts to connect and participate despite the Covid 19 pandemic that has largely limited everyone’s social interaction.
After that, students of batch 2020-22 conducted a quiz about Lord Krishna that was fun and informative at the same time. Later, there was a play that was enacted very innovatively by students through online collaboration. It was a modern take on Lord Krishna, his life experiences, and activities had he been present on earth in the current times. Everyone surely enjoyed and had fun as the story unravelled in front of them.
Subsequently, further performances from students filled the meeting with devotion and sanctity as midnight approached, the actual time of birth of Lord Krishna. As the meeting closed, people shared the scene around them of people worshipping the Lord by chanting hymns and songs in his praise.
