Krishna Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, is an annual festival of Krishna, the 8th avatar of Vishnu. Krishna, the human incarnation of Vishnu, was born on this day to destroy Mathura’s demon king, Kansa, the brother of Krishna’s virtuous mother, Devaki
Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated nationally and internationally with great pomp and show, all the temples are decorated with lights and flowers. People perform Dahi-Handi to celebrate the festival. In Vrindavan and Mathura, people celebrate this festival with much zeal.
On the 19th of August 2022, IBA celebrated Krishna Janmashtami, the whole event was organized by the 2022-24 batch.
The program started by briefly narrating the story of Lord Krishna followed by a harmonious song. A graceful dance performance was presented, after which the Radha-Krishna couples played a few games like a quiz related to Lord Krishna. After that, an impromptu dance competition was held between them. The winning pair got the opportunity to break the matki of the Dahi-Handi ritual.
After all these programs, at midnight the puja started, followed by aarti, bhajan and prasad distribution. It was a beautiful event and was enjoyed by everyone.
