Kannada Rajyothsava

On the 7th of November, Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated with great joy in the IBA, Bangalore campus. The event started with the inauguration by the Honorable Chief Guest, Mr. Sailesh Chandra Gupta, and members of Faculty. Mr. Ravish Krishnamurthy, Head Librarian – IBA Bangalore recited the Ganesh Vandana and filled the ambience with his blessings. Mr. Gupta then enlightened the audience with his speech and also sang the song “Kodagana Koli Nungitha,” accompanied by a Hindi song. He spoke about the liberalization of the state, where all the Kannada speaking people united and formed a state called Karnataka. He informed the audience that Kannada is the only Language to have won 8 Jnanapeetha Awards, and it is the highest number won by an Indian language. He said that the Kannada language is now being underestimated by the people, and the education in Kannada needs to be empowered.
Subsequently, Dr. Subhash Sharma, Director – IBA Bangalore, gave a presentation on “Kannada Values embedded in Management.” Dr. M.S. Ramachandra Principal – IBA Bangalore, then gave a speech on the occasion and also sang a song in Kannada. It was time then, for some Cultural activities which started with a dance performed by the 14-16 batch girls. That was followed by a couple of songs sung by boys of 14-16 batch fitting the occasion. Mr. Gyanamoorthy, Visiting Faculty for Kannada at IBA Bangalore, also gave a speech that was enjoyed by all the guests and students. The event finally came to an end, with Prof. Sowmya delivering the vote of thanks, and then everyone rose for the National Anthem and Kannada Anthem.
