Maha Shivratri 2022
Date:01.03.2022
Time: 11:15 pm – 11:45 pm
Venue: Santripti Group Floor.
Maha shivratri, “The great night of Shiva” is the most significant event in India’s spiritual calendar. It is an annual festival dedicated to Hindu god Shiva, almost like a celebration of darkness.
The Maha Shivaratri is a festival that takes place at night, unlike most Hindu festivities that take place during the day, on this greatest night of Shiva, Lord Shiva performs his heavenly dance as per few legends
It is an event notable for its introspective focus, fasting, meditation on Shiva, self-study, social harmony and an all-night vigil at Shiva temples.
The celebration includes maintaining a “jaagaran”, an all-night vigil and prayers, because Shiva Hindus mark this night as “overcoming darkness and ignorance” in one’s life and the world through Shiva.
Offering fruits, Betel leaves, sweets and milk to Shiva are made.
To make this day special at IBA, all the seniors and juniors came together as a team, from decoration to puja and made the event successful under the guidance of the YMCC Committee.
- We started the event at around 9:00 pm on 1st of March by distributing 5 different types of fruits to the students who were fasting.
- Few juniors and seniors decorated the ground floor of Santripti with 108 Diyas and flowers.
- At around 11:15 all the juniors gathered in santripti and two of our seniors along with a junior performed the puja to lord Shiva, later everyone took the blessing of lord Shiva.
