Makar Sankranti 2023
Vasant in Hindi means ‘spring’ and Panchami means ‘fifth’, hence Vasant Panchami falls on the fifth day of Magha month, Shukla Paksha of Hindu calendar which marks the beginning of spring – the king of all seasons and we worship goddess Saraswati.
Makar Sankranti, also known as Sankranti or Uttarayan, is a Hindu festival celebrated in various parts of India. It is a harvest festival and marks the transition of the sun into the zodiac sign of Makara (Capricorn), marking the beginning of longer days and shorter nights. The festival usually falls on the 14th or 15th of January and is celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm across the country.
As Indiapura is a campus which represents unity in diversity, students celebrated Makar sankrati together with joy on 15th january 2023. The celebration began with decorating the campus with beautiful flowers and Rangoli by students followed by worshiping god for thier blessings and afterwards a dance performance by batch 21-23 showing how Makar sankrati is celebrated in different parts of India. One of the famous parts of this festival is flying kites and this is how the celebration ended, all the students gathered on terrace and flew kites with joy and the laughters directed the end of celebration.
