Reflection’ – A panel discussion with Alumni of IBA Bangalore based in Europe, Middle East and Africa
The air was filled with anticipation and excitement as our alma mater welcomed back some of its most accomplished alumni for a guest lecture. It was an extraordinary opportunity for students, faculty, and guests to hear from individuals who had walked the same halls, sat in the same classrooms, and embarked on remarkable journeys since their time at our beloved institution. This blog aims to capture the essence of that memorable event and the invaluable wisdom shared by our esteemed alumni.
On 8th july2023, Vishal sir, Luigi sir, Abhishek Sir, Akshay Sir, Arun Sir, proud alumni of Indus Business Academy conducted a session Reflections EMEA region. They all are in Dubai currently and connected with IBA batch 23-25 batch via zoom meetings.
The session started with question asked by Prof. Narendra babu sir to the alumni about the expectations they had before joining Indus Business Academy and what did they received as well as experienced in IBA campus. As a response alumni shared their experience in IBA campus that there were no cameras all around the campus, which gave them a different kind of freedom from what we have today. There was no IT lab and as IBA was very new at their time they had to take calculated risks as less resources were available to them than today, IBA used to have long lectures 3:30 am to 4:30 pm (lasting 12-14 hours at length).
The alumni speakers generously shared their insights, lessons learned, and the challenges they encountered along their respective paths. They spoke with humility, acknowledging that their successes were built upon failures and perseverance. Their words resonated deeply with the audience, reminding us that setbacks are opportunities for growth and that true success is often born out of resilience and determination.
They advised us how we should spend our time in IBA campus joining committees and clubs and learn from peers and prof how we should upskill and reskill ourselves as time and industry required advising us to be more flexible and adaptive to the need of the industry so we would be updated and never be antiques to the requirement of the company
They coined a word which they used to use at their time in IBA which was Cooperate + competition = “coopretition” that means we should cooperate with our peers while maintaining a health competition that will push each us to grow towards our individual goals.
They told us how IBA is training us for the corporate life. They mentioned different ways how dual specializations give extra opportunity to students which included extra efforts towards each subject and better management skills to timely finish our academics while handling our extra-curricular activities. We came to know the ways by which case-based learnings improve our holistic development. Also, how soft skills is important in corporate world, how networking give edge to the students. Soft skills would help us to communicate with the peers and mentor to grow in our career and have a wide spectrum of experience while going forward to their goals.
In conclusion, the guest lecture by our esteemed alumni has been an inspiring and insightful session that has left a lasting impact on all of us. Their journey from being a student at our institution to achieving remarkable success in their chosen field has been nothing short of extraordinary.
