SIBM-B MUN

As part of Revelation’25, the annual fest of Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Bangalore, a Model United Nations (MUN) was organized, featuring three distinguished committees: UN-DISEC (United Nations Disarmament and International Security Committee), UN-ECOSOC (United Nations Economic and Social Council), and UN-HRC (United Nations Human Rights Council). Six students from IBA Bangalore participated in the event, with three representing the UN-HRC and the other three taking part in UN-ECOSOC. Each committee comprised acting delegates representing various countries, including France, Denmark, and Turkey. As participants, the delegates were required to thoroughly research their assigned country’s policies, recent developments, international relations, and official standpoints. The event featured structured debates, including the General Speaker’s List (GSL) and Question and Answer sessions, where delegates had to defend their country’s position while responding to queries from other representatives. Additionally, an International Press Conference was held, during which reporters posed challenging questions to delegates from various nations. The two-day event attracted experienced candidates, some with participation in over 20 MUNs. It provided an enriching learning experience, offering valuable insights into the operations of different UN bodies and global diplomatic processes. Notably, Jyotirmayi Maharana and Omanshu Rathore from the IBA Bangalore Batch of 2024-26 received Verbal Mention awards for their exceptional performance in the UN-ECOSOC and UN-HRC committees, respectively.
