Sri Rama Navami is a Hindu Festival that celebrates the birth of Rama. Rama was the seventh incarnation of Vishnu. People celebrate Rama Navami by going to temples that are decorated for the festival and reciting stories from the religious epic poem, the Ramayana. A continuous recital of the book takes place during the month of Chaitra prior to the celebration. On Ram Navami itself, the highlights of the story are read in the temple.
Houses are thoroughly cleaned on Rama Navami and a family shrine may be decorated with small statues of Rama. Offerings of flowers and fruit are placed on the shrine and prayers are recited after an early bath. The day is observed using traditional rituals, decorations, and food and the festival is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Lord Rama, who was the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Each year, Ram Navami is celebrated on the ninth day in the Chaitra month, according to the Hindu calendar.
The significance of the festival is that it indicates the victory of good over evil and establishment of dharma to beat adharma. The Ram Navami festival celebration starts with jal (water) offering in the early morning to Surya (a sun god) to get blessings from him. People also believe that descendants of Surya were ancestors of Rama.
Likewise, we celebrated Sri Rama Navami at Indus Business Academy. IBA is a home for all people across India who take immense pride to celebrate their own culture, tradition, heritage here. This year also like every year, YMCC has Organised the celebration of Sri Rama Navami at santripti. All the volunteers started working from 7:00 in the morning. The campus was decked up with mango leaves, flowers and rangoli. Students were part of preparing Panakam and food for everyone to provide the home touch to the celebration. The Day started by offering Pooja to Lord Rama by two of the juniors along with flowers and fruits. Every student then took the blessings of lord Rama.
Everyone Dressed with Ethnic attire and the campus looked colourful. Everyone was cherishing the moments by clicking selfies. Delicious food was offered by YMCC Committee in the Lunch for Sri Rama Navami where we had Motichur laddu made with ghee, Panakam etc.
