Visit of Ms. Susan Verghese, Former World Bank Advisor and Member of IBA Governing Council
Indus Business Academy recently hosted a session featuring Ms. Susan Verghese, an alumna of IIT Delhi and former World Bank Advisor. Ms. Verghese shared her career experiences, spanning roles at Mahindra & Mahindra, TATA IBM, and as an internal auditor. She emphasized the importance of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) in setting industry standards.
Ms. Verghese’s talk centered on the pursuit of happiness in both personal and professional life, encouraging students to align their passions with their careers. She posed reflective questions like, “Why are you pursuing management?” and introduced three guiding questions on happiness:
How can I be sure I will be happy in my career?
How can I be sure my relationships will lead to enduring happiness?
How can I be sure I will stay out of trouble?
She provided a checklist for personal and professional growth, urging students to focus on gaining valuable experiences, personal development, and contributing to others’ well-being. She also stressed the importance of resisting instant gratification and fostering meaningful connections with loved ones.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where Ms. Verghese shared practical advice on balancing professional ambitions with personal happiness for long-term success.
