IBA Center for C School, Indus Business Academy (IBA), Bangalore
An International Dialogical Workshop
Topic: New Horizons of Creative Social Theorizing and Social Transformations: India, Brazil and the World
Date: December 26, 2013
Time: 10 am to 1 pm
Venue: IBA, Bangalore
Our world is in a moment of great transition which calls for creative theorizing across boundaries. India and Brazil embody cross-currents of creative theorizing and social transformations at present. Both the countries are struggling with varieties of challenges of domination and inequality and are homes of many critical social movements such as Ekta Parishad in India and MST (Movement of Landless People) in Brazil.
There are also varieties of new movements of thinking in both the spaces which have a global significance. In our workshop, we discuss some of our own works in social theorizing, for example the work of Prof. Subhash Sharma on a New Earth Sastra, Dr. Ananta Kumar Giri’s on Knowledge and Human Liberation and Prof. Frederic Vandenbergen’s work on Critical Theory and Human Emancipation. In this workshop, we also discuss Sri Aurobindo’s ideals of Human Unity and Planetary Consciousness. We explore the ways we can embody creative social theorizing and transformative movements in our present day world.
